Project Description

We knocked through a wall and connected the cemetery with the Millennium garden, and established numerous memorial gardens in between the two. We have provided a quiet area of reflection, a sensory garden, a SANDS remembrance area for early loss pregnancies, and a poppy garden with ‘Tommy’ statue for our war fallen. We have involved all areas of our community, including groups of nursery and primary school children, to help establish new garden areas, for them to tend to on a regular basis. We have made the area fully accessible for all, Including wheelchair access.

Supporting Statement

The project has brought together vast groups of our community to work towards a better area for everyone. We have welcomed children from 2 year old, right up to pensioners, and also had greatly appreciated help from our a Community payback teams. The support and commitment from our community and beyond has been so heart warming, and worthy of recognition. Our committee of only 6 people all have differing skills to offer our team, and have worked tirelessly to bring out the best in all our volunteers, and the praise we have received on top of the support (financial and manual labour) has been exemplary. A real credit to our town.
