Project Description

The Riverside Heather Collection Perth has been delivered by the dedicated efforts of the Beautiful Perth volunteers, whose objectives are to make Perth a ” better place to live, work and visit “. This valuable public realm feature was partially as a result of the demise of the popular Cherrybank Gardens Heather Garden in Perth and a public recognition of the need to continue the representation of this native flora for tourists and local residents alike. The collection comprises of over 16,000 plants, consisting of 500 varieties, and is punctuated by elements of the City’s public Art Trail.

Supporting Statement

The group recognises that this has been a sterling volunteer effort supported by partner agencies and stakeholders, such as Perth and Kinross Council and Perth College UHI. The project offers an enhanced quality of life for many users as well as adding an iconic feature to the public realm of Perth and Scotland.
