Volunteers’ Week 2019

Today marks the beginning of Volunteers’ Week so we’d like to take this opportunity to welcome the volunteer-led groups who have officially joined our My Place Mentoring programme; Torry Development Trust, The Grantown Society, Crieff and Strathearn Museum Group, Moffat Community Council, Struan Community Group and the Wick Museum.

It’s a privilege to be working with such ambitious communities, all of whom are working incredibly hard to bring about a positive change in their local area. The range of ideas and projects put together by each of these volunteer led community groups is breath-taking.

This includes; saving important heritage assets in order to create new housing and facilities for their local community, developing a strategy to tackle the problems faced by small rural towns, the creation of a new museum, town centre regeneration, building new visitor and community facilities and developing resilient heritage projects.

We will be sharing their stories with you here, so please do keep an eye out for all the latest news.

My Place Mentoring is still open for applications. If your group would like to develop its knowledge and skills in areas from sourcing funding to using social media and everything in between, you may be eligible for our free support, which ranges from 8-20 days of our time per project.

We will support groups to take the action needed to realise their ambitions and share their stories with you.

If you think your community group could benefit from our support then please get in touch:
